This fall marks Harvest’s 40th anniversary! We’ll kick off this year of ministry by renewing our focus on God’s mission for our church: to make disciples of all nations. For three Sundays in September we’ll discover the three tools God gives us to accomplish this mission: his Word, his Spirit, and his church. Our disciplemaking will be strengthened as we explore how to implement these tools practically in the life of our congregation. Read ahead, engage with this sermon series, and discuss with others!

September 27      Ephesians 4:11-16

If you’ve ever tuned in to a movie when it was half over, or started watching a TV series toward the end of a season, you know how confusing it can be: you watch a scene that you can tell is important, but you don’t understand why it matters. It’s hard to see the significance of plot twists when you don’t know the plot, or character development when you’re not familiar with the characters. Reading the Bible can be a lot like that: the significance of each part of the Bible is hard to see apart from a clear view of its overall storyline. Thankfully, all the main elements of the Bible’s story are introduced in its earlies chapters, and getting to know these chapters will help us understand everything that follows them. Join us as we resume our study through the Book of Genesis this Fall at Harvest.

I've been married to my wife Amy since 1994 and we have two young adult children, Elizabeth and Tommy. I've served in fulltime pastoral ministry since 1999, including my time here at Harvest which began in 2006. God has given me a passion to teach his Word and to lead his people, and I love the opportunity I have to do those things in my role as the Lead Pastor of a church like Harvest that's so responsive to God's heart for his people.
