What do you do for Harvest? As the interim Youth Director I get to have a blast working with 7th-12th graders in the Refuge. Thanks to a wonderful staff and dedicated volunteers we’re able to put together service opportunities, fun-time-hang-outs, worship and teaching times, and small group discussions, all of which are designed to bring our students face-to-face with the beautiful love of our Savior and spur all of us on together to become His disciples.
How and what types of things should I contact you for?
Anything to do with youth. If you are, have, or know a junior higher or high schooler and you’d like to find out more about our ministry, drop me an email or give me a call. If you’re interested in helping out with the Refuge I’d love to get to know you better over a cup of Ristretto Roasters coffee.
What is your history with Harvest or why did you come? I actually started coming to Harvest when my wife, Lyndsey, got a job here working with the Refuge. I was able to start helping out almost immediately, and the next thing you know, I’ve got a desk and a phone. It’s definitely been yet another way that God has worked things out in my life when I least expect it.
If you had unlimited resources to pursue one goal, what would be the one thing you would do that you think would have the maximum impact for God's kingdom?
I’d probably plant a church in SE Portland and spend every day confronting people with the gospel of the furious love of Jesus. And since I’d have unlimited resources, I’d send people out to every major city in the world with the same gospel message. Then I’d start an academy where high school graduates could come to live, serve, and learn in a community overflowing with the gospel to impact those around it. And then...well, if you want to hear all my dreams we should probably just meet for coffee. weekly.
Personal hobbies:
- I love hanging out with my wife and our two dogs. Lyndsey and I love good food, good coffee, and strolling on a beautiful fall day.
- I’m a reading nerd. (I once read Les Mis in less than two weeks when I should have been studying for mid-terms) I also love discussing books and ideas.
- Photography is something I wish I had more time for.
- Doing stand up comedy in the bathroom mirror.
- Growing mustaches.
- Continuing my quest for the perfect burger.
