What do you do for Harvest?
As the bookkeeper for Harvest, I take care of most things having to do with money. For close to 10 years now, I’ve paid the bills, kept track of family giving, prepared the staff payroll, plus a host of other miscellaneous financial duties. About 6 years ago we opened a preschool at Harvest so I’ve handled the preschool tuition payments and billing. I’ve worked in the field of accounting for many, many years and worked at a variety of companies but have never had a job I’ve enjoyed so much or worked with such wonderful people. I still can’t believe I get paid to work here! I hope to still be walking the halls and “counting beans” for Harvest until I’m 80!
What is your history with Harvest or why did you come?
I started attending Harvest about 14 years ago. The first year or so I just came on Sundays but one year I helped with a women’s event. It was the best thing I could have done. It helped me get to know some of the other women at Harvest and I started to feel like I belonged. I went on to help with VBS for a number of years; I’ve helped with Club 56 and gone along as a chaperone for several youth events. My latest volunteer position is with the Fellowship Ministry and Family Camp. It’s been such a joy to see my family grow up here at Harvest and move through the various areas of Children’s and Youth Ministries. I’ve enjoyed the chance to experience so many areas of church life and get to know many of the great people here of Harvest.
